THANK YOU!

Thank you to all my supporters who helped me through the Primary Election--now the real work begins!  We had a resounding victory in the Primary--I won by 14 points.  My Democratic opponent in the General Election only eked out a narrow 6 point win in his race.  This is going to be a tough election--the Democrats have already made it clear how low they're setting the bar in dirty campaign tactics.  I'm not going to go there with my race.

I'm running on the issues and I firmly believe that when Montanans see the stark contrast between me and my opponent, they're going to have an easy choice to make.  I believe we need to get tougher on sex predators, responsibly develop our natural resource wealth, and stand up for our Montana rights as the federal government attempts to encroach on our water, access to public land, and gun rights, just to name a few.  I worked extremely hard to win this Primary, but I'm re-committing to you now that I'll step it up even further for the General Election.

Thanks again,

Tim

Please listen to my radio new radio Ad, "Why I'm Running"

it's been my great good fortune to be born and raised in this great state that we all call our home.
Montana is a special place, a place of wonderful promise and opportunity nestled in the midst of the greatest Nation the world has ever seen. But as special as this place called Montana may be, it's the people of Montana, people like you, who make our home so inviting, friendly, and safe, and it is you that I wish to serve. I am running to be your next Attorney General because I care about you, your families, and your neighbors. I care about your homes, your jobs, your businesses, and your possessions. I care about your children, and about their children yet to come. I care about your land, about public lands, our public institutions, our schools, and about our laws. I care about your dreams, and about making sure that government helps you to work for, and realize those dreams.
I care about your ideas, your views, your faith, and your philosophies, and about how we can reach consensus on how to make Montana a better place to live. I want this job because together we can make Montana a safer, cleaner, and a more prosperous place to live. I can make a positive difference if I am elected, and I'll work hard for all Montanans.

My mandate as Attorney General will be to protect our citizens and to make sure our law enforcement officials have everything they need to prevent crime. I want to make Montana unattractive and inaccessible to criminals, and I will ensure that the Montana Department of Justice aggressively prosecutes those who threaten our safety and our property. I will promote a system of justice that protects our Constitutional rights, fosters stability in the rule of law, and does not seek or encourage judicial activism. My guide in these efforts will be the Declaration of Rights of the Montana Constitution, the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution, and the well-being of my fellow Montanans. Despite any personal feelings or beliefs that I may have, my pledge to you is to apply the law as it is given to us by the Legislature, and, in the absence of Legislative directive, by the courts. If I disagree with the law, I will work with you and the Legislature to see that it is changed.

This year marks my twentieth year of practicing law in Montana. In that time, I have assembled valuable experience in criminal law as a contract public defender for the State's largest city, Billings, in public administration managing people and programs for two Montana agencies, in public law as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Environmental Quality, in corporate law as in-house counsel for a Montana-based National Bank, and in a private law practice serving individual Montanans and Montana small businesses.

The office of Attorney General is, at its core, a leadership job demanding education and experience in public administration and management. Being just a good lawyer is not enough to effectively carry-out the duties of Attorney General. Since attending graduate school in the public administration program at the University of Montana, I have been privileged to develop a regulatory program for one Montana agency, and to later manage a 100-person division of another agency. I am no stranger to budgeting, staffing, planning, working with the Legislature, the Governor, and the courts, and to rolling up my sleeves to work with dedicated public servants. No other announced or rumored candidate for the office of Montana Attorney General brings such important education and experience to the job.

Of equal value is the experience that comes from calling Montana my home for so long. I've bucked bales and branded with my farm and ranch friends, recreated with friends and family in the great Montana outdoors, and I have had the honor of sharing and living the dreams, joys, and sorrows of my Montana neighbors for nearly fifty years. Of all that I bring to the position of Attorney General, ultimately it is my love of Montana's people, and my sense of connection to this special place, that will assure my success in serving you.

My Dad used to say, "anything worth doing, is worth doing right." Because of you, this campaign is worth doing, and together we'll do it right. I look forward to talking with you face to face in the months to come, and I ask for your vote. Thank you for your support and prayers, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to achieve my dreams, and to help you to achieve your dreams.
